Developed as a competition entrant for Korea’s 2012 Yeosu Expo, the facility would serve as Korea’s iconic pavilion embodying the expo’s theme of “the Living Ocean and Coast.” Light, air, land, sky and ocean converge at the water’s edge where the pavilion’s movement-inspired forms evoke natural engagement and flow between its context and its contents. An array of passive and green strategies from tapping adjacent ocean thermal cooling to photovoltaic glazing contribute to its net-zero objective and embody the Expo’s sustainable commitment for man and the planet we live on.
