MIX won a competition to re-design a newly constructed, seven-story 50,000 M2 retail shell. The project is located on the historic and world famous Wangfujing Street, in the heart of Beijing, one block north of China's premier national street, Chang'an Avenue. While carefully respecting the as-built structure, MIX extensively re-worked the existing interior into a more open and naturally flowing project to creatively recall the history of Wangfujing Street, which means “Street of Princely Wells.” The project opened in late 2014.

By keeping its focus first and foremost on the people, BJAC will create a fundamental catalyst that can propel the evolution of the entire Baoshan District. The key site strategies focus on weaving the project’s 1.7 km length together to create a new standard in urban lifestyle set in nature. Through its unique giant tipped park and three unique pedestrian promenades – the Riverline, Highline and Greenlines – BJAC sets the stage for an integrated lifestyle fostering a connection to nature, a strong sense of community and new landmark for Shanghai.
