The Shanghai World Financial Center (SWFC), for a brief 2008 moment, the tallest building in the world, sits within Pudong’s high-powered Liujiazhui financial district. At the SWFC’s entry are MIX’s podium shops and restaurants. Inspired by abstract artwork, a palette of mixed stones, woods, metal and glass creates a vibrant and juxtaposed zone of interface between the tower’s quiet corporate elegance above to its urban context below.
